August 26 (Wed) | 17:00–21:00
Water Lantern Parade with Invited Procession Participation
Experience one of the most anticipated nights of the Keelung Ghost Festival through the stories, structure, and atmosphere surrounding the Water Lantern Parade. This tour introduces the background of the procession, the tradition of annual clan rotation, recommended viewing perspectives, and festival highlights such as Folklore Float performances along the route.
As part of this departure, guests are invited to walk alongside this year host clan association procession group for around 40–60 minutes, depending on live festival conditions. This offers a rare chance not only to watch the parade, but to experience the rhythm and atmosphere of the festival from within the procession itself.
After the scheduled tour, guests who wish to continue may follow the guide by free shuttle bus to Badouzi, where the festival moves toward the final water lantern head release around 22:30PM-23:00PM. There, guests can continue to experience the on-site ritual atmosphere and join clan association activities with the guide, depending on live festival arrangements and conditions.

Why This Experience Is Different
- Most visitors see only the spectacle. This tour helps you understand the structure, symbolism, and local meaning behind what you are witnessing.
- Our guide does more than lead the way. We interpret the festival as a living tradition shaped by clan associations, temple culture, neighborhood participation, and Keelung’s port-city history.
- With personal wireless audio headsets, you can stay connected to the storytelling even in dense crowds, moving processions, and noisy ceremonial spaces.
If you're looking to go beyond typical sightseeing and experience one of Taiwan’s most atmospheric and meaningful ritual traditions with local context, our 2026 Keelung Ghost Festival Tours are for you.
The Keelung Ghost Festival is not a single-stage event. It unfolds across temples, streets, riverbanks, harbors, and neighborhood spaces throughout the seventh lunar month. Each departure focuses on a different major ritual, allowing you to experience a specific ceremonial moment within one of Taiwan’s most iconic living traditions.
Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, you’ll walk with a knowledgeable bilingual local guide who explains what is happening, why it matters, and how each ritual fits into Keelung’s cultural landscape. With personal wireless audio headsets, you can follow the stories clearly even in crowded and noisy festival conditions.
This is not just a sightseeing walk. It is a deeper cultural experience for travelers who want to understand the meaning behind the atmosphere, imagery, offerings, processions, and community participation that define the Keelung Ghost Festival.
Led by a bilingual local guide, this experience turns spectacle into understanding. You will not only see the festival, but also leave with a much clearer sense of why it matters to Keelung and how it continues to shape the city’s identity.
